Springing into Music at the Elementary Spring Concert
Springing into Music
by Emily Schnelle
Last week on Tuesday, March 25, elementary students in grades K-6 had their annual spring concert directed by Mrs. Deb Faltys. The concert began with the 4th grade recorders playing “Disco Fever” and was followed by the 5th and 6th grade band performing “El Camino Mariachi,” “Cambridge Overture,” “Frenzy,” “12 the Clock Stops,” and “25 or 6 to 4.” After the band was finished, the kindergarteners gathered on the stage. The kindergarten class presented 2 pieces they had been practicing. The first was “Hey Children Who’s in Town” and for next piece, the 1st graders joined the stage for “Rhythm Express.” Then, the 2nd graders sang “Pizza, Pizza, Daddy,” and “A Pat On The Back,” before the 3rd grade took it away with “Sun Don’t Set in the Morning” and “John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.” The 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades closed up the concert with “I Was Here.”
For the first part of the finale, all students came together and sang “Sweet Home Chicago” and “Sweet Caroline” with Mr. Wes Pokorny, Robert Rocheford, and Lucas Gurnsey accompanying on guitars. The last part of the finale was a parachute routine by all grades to “The William Tell Overture.”
The first graders present an illustrated version of "Down by the Bay."
The second graders show off their moves with "Pizza, Pizza, Daddy."
The third graders sing about "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt."
A dance to "Cedar Swamp" is presented by the fourth grade class.
The fifth and sixth graders "Sing, Sing, Sing."
